Love Story: It started with a smile on Friendster and a date at a rubbish dump

STOMPer Terence met his wife through the social-networking site, Friendster. He received a 'smile' just days after sending her one on the website, and soon a date followed.

Terence shares his love story with us:

"If I were to tell people around me, most of them would not even believe that we've known each other for about three years only. And we've been husband and wife for 1 year 10 months.

"Chantel (my dear wife) and I got to know each other through a smile I sent to her through Friendster sometime back in Jun 2008 and she replied my smile just few days later.

"After chatting on MSN, we decided to meet up. Guess where?! No one would believe that we first met up at one of the most 'romantic' places one could ever imagine, the rubbish area below her sister's place! That was on Jun 29, 2008. And our first date was at the Yishun dam.

"The following day, we met up again at East Coast Park where we walked down the path of ECP. Then when it was just past midnight, on July 1, 2008, I held her hands and we started our life-long relationship.

"There's not a single relationship which is smooth sailing all the way and true enough, we had our happy, sad, angry and even disappointing times.

"But we still decided on each other as our life-long partners and we ROM the following year on Sept 26, 2009.

"The saddest part of our marriage is, I had to leave her for my work overseas only two months into our marriage, in Nov 2009 for a year.

"During that one year of my overseas' work, we could only see each other once every few months and our marriage was in a rocky stage.

"Nevertheless, we pulled through and she was able to follow me on the second year of my overseas work.

"I must say although she's young, she has been through so much and she's such a great wife.

"Here's my message for my dearest wife, Chantel, although there's a lot of things happening around us, I believe you know how much my love is for you and I strongly believe that both of us will be strong enough to pull through all these together.

"Just remember, no matter what happens, your husband, ME will always be there for you!

"Let us walk through the hardship and happy time together for our wonderful future to come. Loving you always."
