The women just wanted to head to the bank in the same building from the store they worked at to deposit three days' takings of RM80,000 (S$32,000). However, they had curry powder thrown at their faces by two men who made off with their money. This follows an incident where a woman was almost raped at the same mall, less than 24 hours before.

The women, staff of a Japanese goods store on the second floor of Kuala Lumpur shopping mall, The Curve, were heading to a bank on the ground floor to deposit three days' worth of takings.

The incident happened at 10.45am and just when they were about to enter the lift. They were assaulted by a fistful of curry powder thrown at their faces before the bag containing RM80,000 was grabbed by the two robbers.

They did not wear masks and made their escape via the emergency staircase, where they exited the building and made off in a blue Proton Wira. Malaysian police said they have obtained a CCTV recording of the incident.

Many people working at the mall are now afraid for their safety after the recent robbery and attempted abduction and rape, said the two victims.

Ms Chin Xin-Ci, an internet marketer, was almost abducted and raped by two men as she was loading her groceries into the car at The Curve's carpark.

Thanks to her quick-thinking and wit, she managed to escape from the moving car, after which she shared her encounter online to warn others.

Said STOMPer Fran:

"Now I'm very scared to go to The Curve when I go to Malaysia. These men are indeed so brave that they did not even bother to wear masks.

"The employees were within the mall in broad daylight and they were robbed of such a large amount.

"The robbers didn't even care that there were CCTVs in the mall! I guess they're not scared of being caught."
