Sin Nee's mother took two months off her work to take care of her when she caught chicken pox.

Sin Nee wrote:

"In my heart, my mother, Ee Seow Lan (Ivy) is the best person in the whole universe. Without her, I can't live at all. Without her, I won't be who I am. She isn't only a parent to me, she is a confidante, a counsellor and also a best friend.

"All the things that she has done for me, and still do, are indescribable. Taking care of my every day life. Making sure I am safe and warm. Knowing that my dad dotes on my sister, she puts most of her attention on me. Nags at me to cut down on food, but worries constantly whether I've had my meals. Although busy at work, but still calls me every half an hour to make sure I wake up for work.

"She scolds me like an enemy but loves me more than a lover. I can never find another mother who is just like mine. I love her with all my might.

"She keeps her promises and never breaks one. Our quarrels and "wars" never go beyond one night. Secrets kept with her are the safest, they never leaks out. She is so loveable that even my friends call her "Mom" and sometimes my friends misses her more than they miss me.

"When I was younger, she took 2 months off from work to take care of me and make sure I have completely recovered from chicken pox. She threw down all her work, came all the way down to my school for me just because I'm afraid of injections. She spoke up for me when I was bullied by the bigger kids.

"As I grew older, her love for me deepened. Whenever I have problems at work, she'll sense it and come talk to me, trying to make me laugh. She is always thinking of new gags to entertain me with. "Chasing" Korean dramas like how I do. She has never complained despite doing so many things for me.

"She's also always asking me whether I have enough money to spend but at the same time, afraid that I will overspend. No matter how late, she'll be waiting for me to come home before she goes to sleep.

"It doesn't matter whether I win any prizes for her in this contest, just that I would like to take this chance, to let the public know how much my mother loves me. And also to thank her for all the things she has done for me. I myself, present this BEST MOM AWARD to her.
